Labor Day Storage for a Labor-Free Holiday Weekend
In a tradition that extends back to the late 19th century, the U.S. Department of Labor commemorates the social and economic contributions that workers have made to the national welfare throughout the generations by making the first Monday in September a national holiday. And so, to celebrate workers, a lot of Americans get to take the day off from work. There’s kind of a false irony to it. Work is still work, but work is also incredibly important.
Here at Closetbox, we take on a good amount of Labor Day storage each year for various events, vendors, and households across the country. At the same time, our free storage pickup service is the perfect antidote to the demands of your everyday, full-time, 9-to-5 job. And falling at the end of summer as it does, Labor Day can intersect with storage projects of all stripes.
Here’s some of our favorite storage insights connected to Labor Day weekend and the start of fall:
- The End of Summer: Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer. Maybe you’ve already planned for back-from-summer-camp and back-to-school storage. Maybe you have a couple more weeks at the swimming pool. Maybe you can’t quite put the lawn mower away yet. Maybe you have another month or two on the golf course. Nevertheless, Labor Day is a great marker for all kinds of end-of-summer storage.
- Picnics, Parades, and Celebrations: Summertime fun and raised public awareness have been entwined since the beginning of the Labor Day tradition. When the Central Labor Union first officially adopted its Labor Day proposal it included plans for both a demonstration and a picnic. It ended being a raucous time fueled by numerous kegs of lager. Today, there are all kinds of celebrations from personal picnics and weekend getaway trips to the NYC Labor Day Parade and fireworks in Cincinnati and Boston. From parade floats to signage, you may need a long-term and/or cyclical storage resource.
- Event and Organizational Projects: On a similar note, many events and organizations have storage needs that are related, directly or indirectly, to the Labor Day weekend. It could be hosting a holiday event. It could be the end of a summer program, or the beginning of a fall program. It could be responding to seasonal marketing and rotational retail displays.
- Labor-Free Labor Day Storage: Our delivery services take the lion’s share of the labor out of your storage project. We simply ask that you box or pack up any smaller items, but we take care of all the heavy lifting for you. Not to mention fighting any traffic that might be lying in wait, while taking all due care in safely transporting and organizing your items at our local storage facility. Get back to what you were doing that much more quickly.
Most of all, don’t feel like you have to choose between enjoying your Labor Day weekend and taking care of your storage project. With Closetbox, you can do both.
